Internship and Work Experience Opportunities Over the Holidays

You’re almost there. The exam period ends soon, which means, if you’ve made it this far, you’re now so close to being free for the summer. It’s a truly liberating feeling finishing a semester at uni. Knowing that there are no more assessments to work on, no more exams to study for, at least for a while.

You can go ahead and watch as much Netflix as you want, content with the fact that there’s no guilt attached with the subsequent neglect of uni work. Although I will say, there’s something about procrastinating doing uni work which makes it that much more enjoyable to binge watch your favourite TV shows.

Personally, as I was struggling through the final semester of my journalism degree, I discovered a little show called ‘The West Wing’ which I consumed myself with while putting off doing my assessments. Indeed, if I’d been studying a class on the inner workings of the US government it would have been time well spent. Alas, my feature writing assignments went neglected for many a night.

As we all know though, there comes a time when all the shows on Netflix start to look mighty familiar. You’ve seen all of the good shows, and the new seasons aren’t coming in quick enough. It may be time to venture outside. Because even though it’s the summer, there’s still a bunch of stuff that you could be doing to stay productive.

Yes, summer is a time to relax, but you can still do that while earning experience doing an internship or work placement. Even if it’s 1-2 days a week, it all helps towards that end goal of getting a great job when you graduate from uni.

Here are just a few great opportunities to get some industry experience over the summer…
