Coronavirus by Kaif Ul Wara

Did not anticipate its arrival

But it arrived

Did not knock on our doors

Rather it welcomed itself in

Emptied out grocery shelves

Crushed our coffee dates

Many of us read

Some sang beautiful notes

Others danced to those beats

And we paused as our beloved land began to heal

Lockdown in all homes

Fines imposed

Airports and schools closed

As mass burials planned

Exhaustion and frustration followed

Toilet paper gone

elders abused

grocery workers mistreated

All businesses closed

But essential services remained open

Plane free skies caused largest decrease in carbon dioxide

emissions

WHO declared it a pandemic.

As the earth enjoyed its moment to heal
