There are dozens of clubs and societies you can join at La Trobe University. From the Law Student Association to the snowboarding team, there is something for absolutely everyone.
We would like to welcome a BRAND NEW association to La Trobe University – the Economic Student Society of Australia (ESSA).
We chatted to La Trobe’s ESSA President and Bachelor of Business student, Ansh Verma, to ask him a few questions!
Asnh gave us a little bit of background about who the ESSA are and what they do.
“Economics Student Society of Australia (La Trobe University) is part of the ESSA Network. ESSA has affiliates at Uni of Melb & Monash University. I was part of Economics Society of Australia, our parent organization and I volunteered at the Australian Conference of Economics in 2019. I then became a member of ESSA at Monash University,” says Ansh.
After these experiences, Ansh saw an amazing opportunity to create an ESSA branch at La Trobe University.
“I’ve always felt that La Trobe should have a fantastic organization like ESSA on campus. Student Clubs & Societies thrive on passion, we’re all passionate about Economics. This core belief is the founding pillar of ESSA and something we wish to pass on to every student at La Trobe,” he says.
Asnh has big goals for La Trobe’s ESSA, including “promot[ing] Economic Thought at La Trobe”. The association also aims “to help students network with Industry Professionals, Academics & other students.”
ESSA have a couple of upcoming events for you to lookout for, such as their ‘Welcome Drinks’ event soon – keep your eyes peeled for details!
